Milatovic: Becic an adequate candidate for president, but maybe it’ll be Spajic or myself

“We have not yet decided who the presidential candidate will be. This will certainly be a person who will be supported by our movement, who will unite Montenegro and be a change compared to what happened so far”, says one of the Europe Now movement leaders and the holder of that movement’s list in the local elections in Podgorica, Jakov Milatovic, guesting on the I Know You Know show on Gradska RTV.

He adds that the Democrats leader, Aleksa Becic, would be adequate for the president of Montenegro, but also that there are people in Europe Now who would cover that position well, naming himself and Milojko Spajic as the possible ones.

“You know that in order to get out of the crisis, the country needs a stable government, so we are directed towards the creation of a politically stable government. That’s why we call for early parliamentary elections every day as the only optimal way to get out of this crisis”, Milatovic points out.

It is certain, he stresses, that the presidential elections, since they were announced before the parliamentary ones, will be a kind of test of how much democratic capacity Montenegro currently has to get such a candidate.

The presidential elections are currently the crossroads of Montenegro in the sense, as he explains, that citizens want to see one man or one woman who will be able to unite citizens around some common values that have been somewhat lost.

Citizens want to maintain European seriousness, he points out, as well as their foundation in the context of state-building, state policies, etc.

“It is absolutely certain that the Europe Now movement is the implementation of these things I am talking about, and I think the citizens would recognize that. Whether it will be me or Spajic is really less important at the moment, but I am a man who has never run away from responsibility and if there is an assessment, I will not run away from it”, Milatovic has concluded.
