The newly elected President of Montenegro, Jakov Milatovic, has said that the European Montenegro won in Sunday’s second round of presidential election.
“On Sunday, there was a victory in Montenegro, over the regime that was overpowered. I am a man who is a European politician. That is why I defeated the regime so strongly. I think that an even stronger European future awaits Montenegro and that we will never return to the rhetoric of the past, whose symbol in Montenegro was, after all, Djukanovic, who emerged in the war years of the 1990s,” says Milatovic in an interview for Dnevnik.hr.
He has also commented on the pictures that arrived from Montenegro – the Serbian flag, three fingers in the air, exclamations “this is Serbia”.
“Everyone sees what they might want to see. I saw a dignified victory with Montenegrin and European flags. Imagine, after 34 years, an almost dictatorial regime is overthrown. It was a historic day for Montenegro. Djukanovic was the head of Montenegro when we, as a country, trotted in European integration. If he had wanted, we would be in the European Union now, but it was the opposite. European Montenegro won on Sunday,” Milatovic has pointed out.
