Milic says the DPS and the SDP have led Montenegro at the brink of an economic abyss, causing epidemic spreading corruption and crime and deep divisions of Montenegrin society on all issues.
He commented SDP’s announcement that its MPs would vote against the government in the Parliament.
“Obviously, possible election and post-election coalitions were planned immediately after the local elections in 2014. It is clear that their ideologues and investors (both in terms of finance and the media) insist on the implementation of the project “everything is the same just he is gone”. The SNP believes that a change of the governing system urgently needs to be changed and that means withdrawing of all those who materially and morally devastated Montenegro in the past two decades into a well-deserved political retirement. Otherwise, we will end up in a paradoxical situation in which Rasko Konjevic may stay in front of the Parliament calling people on protest against the government,” Milic said.
There are seven days left until confidence vote. Milic also commented on the assessment of certain analysts that both possible outcomes are good for PM Milo Djukanovic.
“There are seven days left until forming a legitimate interim government, if signatures of Darko Pajovic, Zarko Rakcevic and Miodrag Lekic dating from 30 January 2015 are still valid. On the other hand, if these analysts measured DPS’s success according to the degree of destruction of the economy, the increase in public debt, the scale of corruption and crime, the speed in which the individuals close to the government made enormous wealth, deep social gap and police brutality against the people – then the DPS achieved remarkable results in that field. The problem is the fact that such ‘victories and strengthening’ of the DPS meant defeat and fall of Montenegro”, Milic said.
Milic is not interested in Djukanovic’s reasons, intentions or expectations related to the confidence vote.
“It bothers me that Ranko Krivokapic, by consciously failing to put the issue of the legal-political model for conducting elections on the agenda for 21 December, has enabled this situation. On the other hand, currently the validity of the SNP’s commitment to prevent the abduction of MPs mandates has been strongly confirmed. If it had not happened, many things would be different now,” Milic said.
Decision on boycott should not be made based on calls from the media
Democratic Front has called on MPs to boycott the work of the Parliament. Milic did not answer whether SNP would join it.
“We do not comment on the initiatives sent to us through the media,” said Milic.
Asked what SNP would do if the government survives the confidence vote on 25 January, Milic repeated that his party was committed to getting a responsible and professional executive branch in Montenegro through fair and free elections, which should bring much needed revival to the entire country and society.
“The main prerequisite for democratic and fair elections is an interim government. It would be unacceptable indeed if active participants of Snimak (Recordings) affair, including those who were convicted of vote-buying, participated in the electoral process again,” said Milic.
Asked to comment on the current situation within the opposition, Milic replied that the situation within the current ruling coalition was more important.
“We saw that the coalition partners are accusing each other for ‘violating the Constitution of Montenegro, bribing MPs and seizing ministerial posts’ as well as ‘privatising public posts and blackmail’. I believe that the Prosecution carefully monitor what the DPS and the SDP communicate about each other, in order to prosecute them for a number of offences they did against Montenegro. On the other hand, I remind that the opposition leaders had signed the initiative on forming an interim government exactly a year ago. These days it has been more topical than ever. I hope that those who signed the document have not forgotten about it,” Milic stated.
