Speaking in a TV show ‘Naglas’ (eng. Out Loud), the Public Administration Minister, Marash Dukaj, said the Committee on Comprehensive Election Reform and politicians were guilty of the post-election crisis in local self-governments, as, according to him, they wanted to control everything based on their political interests and calculations. He also noted some wanted the ministry to introduce forced administration in Budva. Asked by a presenter to tell the name of the party, Mr Dukaj replied: ‘For the Future of Budva”.
The Minister said local self-government should be a priority to all structures. In the countries of Europe, local government leads the way.
“It’s important to say that the problem is not just in the implementation of the local self-government law, but in other departments closely connected with the Committee on Comprehensive Election Reform as well. We should check on what the mentioned committee has done all this time. In my opinion, they haven’t done their job well,” Minister Dukaj added.
However, it’s not that only the committee has been responsible for the entire situation. As he said, politicians were the most responsible ones.
“They want to control everything depending on their interests. We’re facing this situation because of their interests and calculations. If we unite, we’re a step closer to the solution.”
According to him, the Ministry of Public Administration takes all measures falling under their competence.
Asked whether the Government of Montenegro should determine the date for the session of the Budva Local Assembly, or it was up to the Ministry of Public Administration, Minister Dukaj said his ministry has also proposed the first date for the session of the Budva assembly.
