MNE export and import in 2020: top products and trading partners

Total foreign trade exchange of goods reached almost €1,42 billion from the beginning of year to the end of July.

This is 18% decline compared to last year.

“Export was worth €199,9 million while import was €1,21 billion. Compared with the same period last year, export was by 12,5% lower while import saw y 18,7% decline”, Monstat data shows.

Import was the highest in March and totaled €205 million. Export reached peak in June, totaling €34,78 million.

Import of food and animals totalls €231,8 million.

Export of food was worth €13,3 million.

Country has earmarked almost €28 million for import of beverage, while it had €6,6 million for the import of tobacco. We earned €1,8 million from the export of cigarettes and €6 million on the export of beverage.

By the end of July, Montenegro has exported €26,47 million of electricity while it imported €26,52 of it.

Import of oil and oil derivatives reached €63 million. We exported €3,4 million of fuels.

Montenegro received over €1 billion of goods from Europe while we exported almost €182 million.

From Asia Montenegro imported €179 million, from China €122 million, from America €27,2 million, from Africa €4,5 million, while from markets of Switzerland and Turkey Montenegro imported €20,4 million and €67,2 million respectively.

As far as export is concerned, Asian market received €15 million of Montenegrin products, Chinese marker received €13,2 million, American market received €1 million and African market received €1,8 million.

To Switzerland and Turkey we sent €3,88 million and €9,87 million respectively.

Import from Brazil was worth €5,3 million, from Japan almost €9,7 million, while €503.000 of goods arrived from Oceania. Montenegro sent to these addresses €10.000, €261.000 and €15.000.

Montenegro exported a total of €80,92 million to CEFTA countries. Import from these countries totaled €349,7 million.

According to data, we received most Serbian goods – €236 million, while we exported a total of €49,5 million to Serbia.

We imported €73,5 million from Bosnia and Herzegovina, while the export to this country reached €10,4 million.

We received €22,8 million from Albania and we sent to this market a total of €6,33 million.

Export to Kosovo was worth €12,25 million. From  Kosovo we received €3 million of products.

We received €14 million from North Macedonia and we sent €2,3 million there.

Export to Moldova was worth zero, while import was worth €139.000.

Import from EU countries was worth €562,3 million, while we exported almost €85 million.

MNE exported €1.000 worth goods to Latvia.

It is followed by Estonia and Finland with €8.000 and €6.000. As far as import is concerned, the top trade partner for import was Germany. (€111,6 million).

We imported €79 million worth goods from Italy, €65 million from Croatia, €528 million from Austria and France and €26,5 million from Spain.

The least worth import (€4.000) is from Malta.

Machines, metals, steel

According to the latest figures, Montenegro’s biggest export in the year to date were products categorized by material, totaling €47 million.

“Machines and transport devices are dominant in the structure of import”, statistics shows.

Consumer prices record a slight decline

Statistical Office of MNE revealed data on prices of products and services of personal consumption, which recorded a 0,3% decline in July.

“On average, consumer prices were by 0,5 % lower in July. Decline in prices of clothes, shoe, vegetables, milk, cheese and eggs, fruit and equipment for reception, recording and reproduction of sound and picture had the greatest impact on negative monthly inflation rate”.
