President of the Municipality of Budva, Mr Marko Bato Carević, asked the President of the Assembly, Mr Krsto Radović, to schedule urgent meeting that will discuss one item on the agenda only – adoption of the declaration for the annulment of the Law on Freedom of Religion. Mr Valdimir Bulatović, president of the Municipal Board of the Montenegrin party, says that councilors of this party won’t support Mr Carić’s declaration, pointing out that their opinion is clear.
“Although we understand the need for amendments to some articles of this law, we should ask ourselves: are we going to show how ignorant we are and, thus derogate ourselves? Are we going to deal with political marketing and try to disobey constitutional order of Montenegro? Laws in our country shall be adopted and amended in the Parliament”, says Mr Bulatović.
He points out that Montenegrin party sees every attempt to change that order as beginning of anarchist behavior.
“Imagine we don’t like Law on Criminal Procedure and we initiate adoption of the declaration on repealing that law. Does that mean that armed citizens will take to the streets and impose new rules of behavior?”, asks president of the Montenegrin party board.
Mr Bulatović considers that adoption of special declarations in some towns is aimed at introducing extraterritoriality in some parts of Montenegro, which Montenegrin party members firmly oppose.
“Religious issues are very intimate and citizens are allowed to associate and work on making their views appreciated and accepted, but they have no right to endanger those who think otherwise”, concludes Mr Bulatović.
