The mediation week, organised by the Commercial Court during the summer, resulted in a peaceful resolution of the dispute in three cases, confirmed the director of the Mediation Centre Marina Lutovac. She is satisfied with this result, bearing in mind that only one case was sent to mediation from the court last year.
“Out of 14 received cases, the Mediation Centre resolved three by reaching an agreement. In two cases, parties did not give the consent for the mediation parties, whereas the other cases were concluded without reaching an agreement. Currently it is important for the centre to have any commercial cases for mediation, because after the mediation week we received nine more cases,” Lutovac said.
President of the Commercial Court Blazo Jovanic is pleased with their contribution to mediation in commercial disputes. He sees the number of cases addressed to the centre as satisfactory. He announced another week of mediation in 2018. According to the court, it sent a total of 25 cases to the centre this year.
“It is important to point out that the Commercial Court continually informs the parties about the benefits of mediation and affirms mediation through court proceedings,” says Jovanic.
Out of the 6,165 cases received by the Commercial Court this year, 4,896 were solved.
