Montenegro is a promising destination for US investors, said the United States Ambassador to Montenegro Margaret Ann Uyehara, saying that it is necessary for the government and the business community to work together to improve the business environment.
Today, at a business lunch organized by the American Chamber of Commerce in Montenegro (AmCham Montenegro) for its members, representatives of state and local government, as well as representatives of international organisations, said that US investors are interested in doing business in Montenegro.
Uyehara believes that foreign investors do not only create new jobs, but also bring clear positive practices and employ local people based on their with specific knowledge.
Ambassador Uyehara pointed to the problem of ineffective bureaucracy, because, as she said, decisions are not made at the operational medium level.
“I think there has been progress in the regulatory and legal framework, but there is a lot to be done. We need to reduce the bureaucracy and give the authorities power to make decisions at the middle level,” said Uyehara.
Speaking of the grey economy, Uyehara said that this phenomenon was a challenge not only for Montenegro but also for many other countries.
