Montenegro to continue with the reform process

Minister of European Affairs Aleksandar Andrija Pejovic met on Thursday the ambassador of Iceland in Montenegro Martin Eyjolfsson.

The officials exchanged experiences from the negotiation process and the implementation of obligations under the EU accession.

“Pejovic presented the results that Montenegro has made towards EU accession during the accession negotiations. He emphasised Montenegro’s commitment to further implementation of reforms and readiness for the opening and provisional closure of the chapters,” the Ministry of European Affairs stated.

Eyjolfsson congratulated on the good results achieved by Montenegro on its European path, pointing out that the acquiring the standards of developed European countries contributed to improving the quality of life of citizens.

“The two officials also exchanged views on the future of the European project after the adoption of the Rome Declaration, the impact of Brexit and the current crisis the EU is facing on the further course of the functioning of the Union, as well as the enlargement policy,” the ministry said in the statement.
