Montenegro has done a great job

Montenegro has done a great job and I congratulate you on the results achieved in fiscal domain and financial sector, said CEO of Belgian-Dutch constituency within International Monetary Fund (IMF), Mr Anthony De Lannoy, in the meeting with the Prime Minister, Mr Duško Marković.

“You’ve been very successful. Keep it going”, said Mr De Lannoy.

Mr Marković thanked IMF for its continuous support and partnership, whilst recalling some Government’s achievements in the past two years- high economic growth rates, reduction of deficit and public debt, revenues growth, financing current expenditures and reduction of unemployment.

“We are aware that long-term economic stability is based on healthy and stable finances. We will keep undertaking activities in order to achieve that goal”, said PM.

PM also highlighted strong Government’s commitment to suppression of grey economy in all areas. He also stressed the cooperation between competent authorities and prosecutor’s office in prosecuting criminal offences in economic crime.

Government has recorded positive results in tourism, energy, agriculture. It is committed to reinforcing overall infrastructure, especially in the north.

Speaking about challenges Montenegrin government faces, PM said that the emphasis would be put on structural reforms in the area of public administration, social and pension policy and that a new set of laws and activities which are supposed to contribute to better results in those areas was in preparation phase.
