Undersea energy cable has justified the epithet of the greatest Montenegrin project in the country’s more recent history. Energy markets between the Balkans and the EU are finally linked, with the bridge called Montenegro.
Member of the Italian Regulatory body for energy, grids and environment, Mr Stefano Saglia, says that the project of energy connection has managed to link Balkan market with the rest of Europe.
Feasibility of the project was proved immediately after the cable was put into operational use as country made a profit of €3 million at annual auctions for 2020.
Representatives of Terna company announce that electricity from our country will reach Switzerland, Austria, France, Slovenia, Greece and Malta.
Terna has released the scheme outlining the importance of the project implemented in partnership with Montenegrin Electricity Transmission System.
The scheme clearly shows electricity going from Montenegro and reaching Italy.
Benefits for Montenegro are reflected in millions because our country is the main hub enabling electricity transmission to happen.
In addition, this project significantly improves transmission grid in Montenegro.
The project is worth around €1 billion.
The cable is 455 km long, the undersea part of which is 433 km long.
