According to the Report on the freedom of the Media, Montenegro has made a significant progress and it now takes position number 103.
Regarding countries from the region, only Macedonia comes after Montenegro. The biggest fall recorded Serbia, which now takes position number 76.
The absolute leader regarding the freedom of the media in the region is Slovenia.
The Report states that the authorities in Montenegro increased the pressure on the public radio and television service of Montenegro, in order to change the independent editor’s policy and put the members of the leading Democratic Party of Socialists on key positions.
Journalists are still being threatened and no case of the attack on a journalist carried out in the last year has been solved.
Journalists’ safety is still one of the biggest challenges.
