The Employment Agency of Montenegro, ZZZCG, told Pobjeda daily this year they plan to recruit 10,000 local seasonal workers, whereas 6,483 individuals have been engaged for a half year, same as the last year. Besides that, the 2018 employment quota of foreign seasonal workers is 18,185.
“Some people can choose their job and must work as seasonal workers until they find something better. The young use the opportunities and like to be close to the sea. In this way, they’re getting work experience and earn some money. Users of social benefits also can earn as seasonal workers, as well as a large number of those unemployed,” the ZZZC explained.
In the first half of 2018, employers were mostly looking for waiters, chefs, pizza experts, butchers, bakers, house cleaners, hygienists, servers, dishwashers and assistant workers. Apart from some basic knowledge and work experience, employers now look for additional skills/knowledge, such as knowledge of a foreign language.
This all was suggested by the 2018 research conducted by the Chamber of Commerce.
Bearing in mind the unemployment rate in Montenegro and large ‘import of work force’, the Chamber of Commerce says it would be better to promote the possibility of seasonal recruitment even more, as well as to encourage the relevant institutions to manage the process.
