The Public Health Institute says that Montenegro is at risk of measles outbreak and that the lowest vaccination rates ever have been registered.
After a child in Kosovo died amid measles epidemic, the Institute has issued instructions on implementing the revision of vaccine cartons for all children in Montenegro.
As the instructions seen by CdM say, there is the necessity of intensifying activities aimed at immunization of non-vaccinated children.
The institution adds that there is a risk of international spreading of measles, which al Health Centres in Montenegro have been informed about.
The most risky group is children, bearing in mind that the level of MMR vaccine coverage has never been lower. Therefore, the Institute urges parents to take their children to paediatricians and have them vaccinated.
The institute says that the epidemic of measles, officially proclaimed in Kosovo, has already taken one life. According to the latest data, 164 people are infected. The epidemic has spread to Macedonia where 14 infected people were registered (13 hospitalised).
