Montenegro’s accession to NATO represents recognition of defense system reform

Montenegro’s accession to NATO represents recognition of defense system reform and the country itself managed to achieve one of the most significant foreign policy priorities, says Montenegrin Security and Defense Committee. The Committee approved the work reports in administrative areas which the Ministry of Defense is responsible for, as well as the report on the Armed Forces of Montenegro (VCG), and submitted the documents to the parliament.

“The Committee committed to intensified cooperation with NATO and the international defense cooperation, which represented a powerful tool of support to improvement of defense capabilities, strengthening political relations with key strategic partners, improvement of regional cooperation and development of good neighborly relations”, concluded the Committee.

Bearing in mind that preparation and involvement of Montenegro’s army into the international operations represented the most significant activity, the Committee found that military officers, deployed in four international missions and operations, successfully performed their duties.

The Committee also found that the VCG reached a considerable degree of operational capability and interoperability, noting that successful process of Montenegro’s accession to NATO Alliance and deployment of forces in the international missions and operations followed considerable efforts of the Armed Forces in 2017.
