In an interview for the CdM portal, one of the founders of the Center for Economic and European Studies (CEES) and development advisor in this organisation, Nina Vujosevic, talked about the Berlin Process, CEFTA agreement and Open Balkans.
Ms Vujosevic, among other things, underlines that any kind of wider integration than the one defined by CEFTA, such as the customs union or common market, mean that a country wouldn’t be able to decide on relations with third countries (which are not part of that union) on its own.
Speaking about the Open Balkans initiative, she warns that, beside the fact it overlaps with the Berlin Process, it may significantly distract the Montenegrin administration from the EU negotiations and closing the negotiation chapters, having in mind that, in the majority of cases, the same expert staff have been engaged in several regional initiatives and EU talks.
