Montenegro got its 13th representative at the Eurovision Song Contest – the NeonoeN band.
The well-deserved victory of the rockers from Podgorica, unfortunately, falls into the background thanks to the hosts’ fiasco, horribly written script and total confusion – which together destroyed the show and the beautiful idea at its core.
The RTCG national broadcaster and the Association of Pop Artists and Performers of Montenegro jointly organized Montesong.
Actor Marko Todorovic and singer Vladana Vucinic – a former participant of the Eurovision Song Contest – were in the role of presenters, and this is a particularly important screw in this format, while the script was written by the writer and author of the popular TV show Balkanskom Ulicom (Along the Balkan Street) Vesna Dedic, about which she informed followers on her Instagram profile.
No one would blame them for the allowed mistakes, but during the almost three-hour show they made so many gaffs and omissions that it is really justified to ask the above-mentioned decision makers – on what basis were they given the microphone on a night that had been announced for months?
It would have been much better if Andrea Sekularac and Lazar Radulovic had been on stage, because backstage they showed twice as much as their colleagues.
It is also questionable why Dedic was hired in the first place in addition to so many local people who are certainly better informed about the history of Montenegro at the Eurovision Song Contest and the local situation. At least, someone should have been hired to assist her and suggest that this was not good.
And that should be clarified by the responsible ones.
The manner in which the awards of the Association of Pop Artists and Performers were presented was beyond words.
The Montefon winners took turns on the stage without any short conversation.
The performers of this event did not deserve all this, because they tried their best to make their performances interesting and creative.
This must be an important lesson for some future endeavors.
We will see if those who decide will learn a lesson. As we praised them for the enormous effort invested in ensuring that Montenegro gets a festival of this type again, now is the time for someone to offer answers to many questions.
