Moody’s agency affirms Montenegro’s B1 credit rating

Moody’s credit rating agency has affirmed the B1 credit rating for Montenegro, Ministry of Finance said.

The rating is the result of high GDP per capita, positive prospects for the EU accession, as well as strong investment trends with special emphasis on FDI. Latest Moody’s report praises important investment projects in the sector of transport, tourism and energy”, representatives of the Ministry said.

In addition, B1 credit rating is the result of strong middle-term growth potential, strengthened by the implementation of adequate structural reforms and implementation of Government’s effective measures that contribute to consolidating Montenegro’s fiscal position.

“Main growth generators are evident in the construction sector, transport, tourism and energy. The growth is stimulated by public investments. On the other side, household consumption has made significant contribution too”, pointed out representatives of the Ministry.

The Report states that 2019 will be another record year in the sector of tourism.
