Moody’s representatives interested in Bar-Boljare project

Representatives of Moody’s credit rating agency have expressed interest in further implementation of highway project.

Minister of Transport presented activities of the project in the meeting held with the Moody’s representatives.

The focus of the conversation with Moody’s representatives was capital infrastructures which are underway.

Minister Nurković informed his guests on the current dynamics of the execution of works on the priority highway section and stated that over 80% of works had already been finished.

“Complexity of the terrain and trace were a challenge, but the quality of works is our priority”, Mr Nurković pointed out.

Stimulating development of the north is a long-term important effect.

“When it comes to development potentials of the north, the region disposes of the majority of hydro potential in Montenegro, total coal reserves, around 67% of arable land, 71% of wood mass, almost 70% of cattle, almost total reserves of plumb and zinc, as well as resources for the development of winter and eco-tourism and production of eco-food”, Minister said.

Preliminary research shows that the preferred model of the implementation of other sections of the highway could be private and public partnership, that is, blending model of financing encompassing a combination of grants, credits and state budget.

Today’s meeting also discussed investment in the railway system of Montenegro, existing road network, as well as investment in air traffic.

Mr Nurković acquainted his guests with important investment in modernization and reconstruction of Montenegrin rails. In the forthcoming period, the country will invest around €15 million.
