More and more citizens dying from Covid-19, authorities keeping silent, public furious

The coronavirus takes more and more lives every day in Montenegro. The number of the newly infected is recorded at hundreds. Health authorities are keeping silent. The public is furious and demands immediate reaction.

When the first two cases of coronavirus were registered in Montenegro on 17 March 2020, the then prime minister Duško Marković addressed the public at a press conference, together with the directors of the Clinical Center of Montenegro and the Public Health Institute (IJZ). Concrete measures were announced and then taken.

The fight against Covid-19 started.

Yesterday, exactly a year later, 18 people died in Montenegro, but the silence of the authorities was painful and unacceptable, just as it is unacceptable for so many human lives to be extinguished in one day.

Instead of around 3pm, when it regularly announces daily overviews, the IJZ stated yesterday, an hour after the end of the press conference, that 18 people died from coronavirus consequences in Montenegro in 24 hours. This procedure leads to the conclusion that the IJZ did this so as to avoid answering any questions on that issue at the press conference at which the new epidemiological measures were presented. This manner of the new Government has been known since before, through addressing the public without organizing press conferences.
