Last week the Government increased the total number of temporary residence permits and work of foreigners in our country, from 18.185 to 23.185. The main reason for that is that they want to avoid the lack in the economy.

This is the reaction, taken in due time, in case sectors of tourism, construction or any other economic branch need more people. Therefore, these additional 5 thousand licenses haven’t been categorized by particular sectors. In the forthcoming period, the Ministry of Labor will divide them depending on the needs of the market.

As reported recently from the Employment Agency, most jobs in the first six months of this year are from the sectors of tourism, trade, transport… When it comes to the employees, apart from basic knowledge and work experience, employers look for other skills as well, primarily, knowledge of foreign languages.

CEO of the Employment Agency, Suljo Mustafić, said that there are many reasons why Montenegrin citizens won’t work during the season.

“The reason is lack of motivation, our mentality which is as it is, but also the conditions which are not acceptable or appealing. Why? Because the grey market is becoming more and more dominant”, said Mustafić.

President of the Tourist Montenegrin Association, Žarko Radulović said that the Law on Foreigners is the biggest problem.

“The Law on Foreigners is still a catastrophe for the country and its economy. The Government should already think about employing workforce form Thailand and Philippines since we can find it there only. I’m serious about that, we won’t be able to find employees from the region anymore”, said Radulović.
