More than €100 million for new ski centers

Guided by the belief natural potentials of the north of Montenegro contribute to the enhancement of tourism economy and improvement of the quality of life of the residents, Montenegro’s Government has started an ambitious campaign of building new ski centers, project worth over €100 million, reads the Report on the Work of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS). The report stresses that around €17 million were invested in the construction of Kolašin 1600 ski center, which was opened in February 2019.

Works on the construction of Cmiljača, Žarski and Hajla ski centers have been agreed and some have already started.

“With the construction of road from Bistrica to Podvrh monastery in Bijelo Polje, a new tourism destination – Đalovića cave – will be brought into the focus of attention”, reads the document.

As far as the environment protection is concerned, landfills in Žabljak and Cetinje have been rehabilitated.

At the end of 2015, Žabljak got new recycle yard with transfer station. Mojkovac is about to have such facility too, as its construction began in the middle of this year.

“New system of waste water treatment and improvement of sewerage and public utility infrastructure in Berane will significantly raise the level of quality of life and protection of natural resources in Berane. This project is worth €12 million and is dominantly IPA-financed”, reads the Report.

In 2016, daily center for children with disabilities was opened in Rožaje.

In the same year, reconstruction of elementary school in Kotor was completed. In the middle of this year construction of new secondary mixed school in Golubovci was finished.

Works on the construction of new elementary and musical school in Bijelo Polje started at the beginning of 2019, project envisaging €5,4 million.

Two kindergartens have been opened in Podgorica. Preparations for the construction of new kindergartens in Ulcinj, Pljevlja, Bar and Podgorica are under way.

Addressing the need for greater investment in projects intended for elderly people, Home of Elderly people was built in Pljevlja last year, whereas the construction of such facilities in Podgorica and Nikšić is under way.

In 2015-2019 period, more than €21 million were invested in the reconstruction of local and city roads in the territory of Montenegro.
