More than €53m for defence

This year, Montenegro will allocate 1.7% of gross domestic product for defence, which is more than €53m, said defence minister Predrag Boskovic.

Boskovic is in Brussels for the NATO defence ministerial meeting.

He said it was expected that by 2024 at least 15 allies would spend 2% or more of GDP on defence.

Asked whether Montenegro would participate in the new training mission to Iraq announced at the meeting, Boskovic responded that these were decisions that did not depend only on the Ministry of Defence, but also on the Defence and Security Council.

Boskovic said that the focus was on the mission in Afghanistan and that Montenegro would be in Kosovo for the first time.
