Members of the Parliament of Montenegro adopted the Proposal Resolution regarding centenary of Podgorica Assembly. Forty-six members voted for the resolution and fifteen of them voted against it. By means of this Resolution, decisions of the Podgorica Assembly brought in 1918 are now void.
The discussion lasted for more than nine hours. Several amendments to the Resolution have been put forward; three submitted by Ranko Krivokapić, and one by an independent member of the Parliament, Neđeljko Rudović.
Members of the opposition disagreed with the adoption of the Resolution since, as they believe, it deepens the divisions in Montenegro. They invited for the abolition of Resolution and commencement of a dialogue.
Deputy Speaker of the Parliament, Branimir Gvozdenović, said that this Resolution will correct the historical injustice. There are no two Montenegrin states, only one; our Montenegro.
Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of Montenegro, Zoran Pažin, said that the Resolution, which is the subject of today’s discussion, is aimed against current attempts of undermining Montenegrin identity, with the abuse of a tragic event in the Montenegrin history.
