Director of the Institute for Public Health, Dr Boban Mugoša, said at the press conference today that coronavirus infection “is spreading”. He warned that everybody should adhere to measures but that borders had to be open, as we “can’t suffocate the economy we depend upon”.
“The infection is present and will be present. We must take all measures we took earlier, primarily those that refer to you. It is difficult to close borders and suffocate the economy. Therefore, we must keep the distance, take care of hygiene of hands and spaces and wear masks where prescribed. These measures can keep the infection under con troll”, Dr Mugoša said.
32 patients in hospital
Dr Nemanja Radojević, assistant director of the Clinical Center of Montenegro, said that 32 patients had been admitted to hospital.
“There are 11 patients in the Clinical Center. Two patients are in critical condition. There are seven patients in the hospital in Bar and 14 patients in the hospital in Berane, where also two patients are in critical condition”, Dr Radojević sated.
Three healthcare workers tested positive for coronavirus
Dr Mugoša said that decisions on opening borders were harmonized with the EU decisions.
Dr Mugoša pointed out that infection could be controlled if measures were respected.
Protection from the infection
Dr Radojević wished his colleagues in Novi Pazar success in dealing with the situation.
“I hope we are going to protect the country from the infection imported from outside”, Dr Radojević pointed out.
Clusters from importation
Dr Mugoša said we “must think carefully when going to regions with high transmission of the virus”.
“We still have clusters from the importation”, Dr Mugoša says clearly.
Set of measures and plan for the season
We have developed a plan for the entire tourist season. The set will enable us to keep the situation under control”, Dr Mugoša said.
Younger people get infected, elderly should be protected
Dr Radojević said that this wave of infection has seen infections with younger population more.
“The goal is to protect elderly because they are at greater risk of complications and death”, Dr Radojević stressed.
