The Ministry of Finance has prepared the Draft Law on Games of Chance, which regulates the field of games of chance, conditions, manner and subjects of games of chance, types of games of chance, the procedure for issuing and revoking approval for the organization of games of chance, the method of distribution of revenue from games of chance, fees, organization of online games of chance, sweepstakes, supervision and other issues relevant to the mentioned field. The new law would, among other things, determine that the organizers are obliged to put a ban on the participation of minors in games of chance in the most efficient way, and that it’s prohibited to advertise games of chance in all media, contents and events for children and young people…
Games of chance are games of chance in casinos, games of chance (games in betting shops), slot machines and lottery.
Among other things, it is stated that the organization of games of chance must be socially responsible and aimed at the protection of minors, the prevention of addiction among players in games of chance and the protection of personal data of players in games of chance.
The organizer of the games of chance, according to the draft law, is obliged to make available to the players information where they can get help in the event of problems concerning excessive playing.
When it comes to ads and commercials concerning games of chance, there’s a separate part in the law regulating it.
“Ads and commercials promoting the organization of games of chance may not be published in radio and TV programs for children and young people, nor in printed material for children and young people. It is prohibited to advertise games of chance in all media, contents and events for children and young people,” the law is adamant.
Supervision over the implementation of this law, other regulations and acts adopted under it fall under competence of the Ministry of Finance.
A public hearing on the Draft Law on Games of Chance lasts until 18 November.
