New Year’s Eve revived Podgorica: Visitors came from all over the region

There is no doubt that Podgorica had one of the best offers for New Year’s Eve in the region.

After several years, the Capital Podgorica organised a celebration at the Republic Square, and many guests entered 2016 dancing in the rhythm of the songs by regional stars Zeljko Joksimovic and Hari Mata Hari.

That seems to be the main reason why Podgorica was finally revived during the New Year holidays.

“The data are being processed, but according to unofficial information from the Interior Ministry, there were 30% more guests in the Capital Podgorica during the New Year holidays compared to the same period last year,” Tourism Organisation of Podgorica told CdM.

There were more than 10,000 people from Montenegro and the region at the square in Podgorica on New Year’s Eve.

“In addition to citizens of Podgorica and visitors from the north and south of Montenegro, there were a lot of guests from the region – from Macedonia, Albania, Serbia, Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina”, the Tourism Organisation added.

The celebration at the square will have a positive effect on the popularisation of the city as a tourist destination.

“With such an event, Podgorica is among the cities which organise New Year’s celebrations at their squares,” the organisation said.

There is a practice of large cities to traditionally celebrate New Year at the city squares. For a change, Podgorica decided to follow contemporary trends that represent a part of the culture of major European and world centres. Well, let it become a tradition!
