Niksic Steelworks CEO Nevenka Jankovic has resigned from that position, TV Vijesti reported, citing unofficial information.
According to Vijesti, the reason for her resignation is that two days ago, a group of Steelworks employees prevented representatives of the 8B Capital company, having taken out a 50-year lease on Steelworks production facilities, and its partner companies with which it plans to start production, from visiting the factory.
The Steelworks trade union and the Union of Free Trade Unions said then that the lease agreement did not specify the status, rights or conditions under which the employees of the Niksic Steelworks would be transferred to the lessee. The agreement did not specify the status of 130 employees that the lessee is not obliged to take over.
They also announced they would not allow the implementation of any legal work with the assets of the Steelworks until they have a “crystal clear picture” of the guarantee of the employment status of all current employees. Montenegro’s power supplier, EPCG, stated that a status change for existing employees in that subsidiary company was not and would not be considered.
