No preconditions for foreigners: Recommendations of business associations adopted

As stated, by adopting the above mentioned amendments to the Law on Foreigners, the most important recommendations made in the position paper prepared by business associations in Montenegro were accepted. The position paper was made by Montenegrin Employers Federation, the AmCham, Montenegro Business Alliance and the Council of Foreign Investors in Montenegro upon the initiative of the Council of Foreign Investors in Montenegro.

They reminded that the position paper had been presented at the session of the Council for Improving Business Environment, Regulatory and Structural Reforms in October 2015. At the meeting, representatives of business associations, the signatories of this document, were given the opportunity to further elaborate the proposals for amendments to the Law on Foreigners.

“The Low on Foreigners will represent a significant indicator of business ambience in Montenegro. The Council of Foreign Investors in Montenegro, apart from the recommendations expressed in the position paper, will also continue to represent recommendations from the so-called White Paper – a report of the Council of Foreign Investors on the investment climate in the country with positions of relevant institutions in relation to the recommendations made in the report. The AmCham will also deal with the Law on Foreigners and the general regulations within labour field in its report about the business environment in 2016, which presents an overview of the positions of the private sector on the ease of doing business in Montenegro,” the statement said.

The two associations have announced that they will continue to work on improving conditions for business through cooperation with other business associations and competent state institutions by sharing expert experiences that are the result of the practical application of regulations by the member companies.
