Official: Herceg Novi has the first woman mayor – Natasa Acimovic

Members of opposition parties did not attend the meeting, and four of them (Milovam Bazdar-PZP, Ljiljana Bojanic independent, dr Savo Marić i Miloš Konjević-Novska list) left the meeting after they criticized the ruling coalition because of improvisations in leadership of the city and choosing a completely anonymous candidate, it was reported by Radio jadran.

By public votes of 18 members of DPS and Izbor as of today, the first woman mayor in the histroy of the city is a 32 years old Natasa Acimovic.

After signing the ceremonial statement she thanked everyone for the trust she was given by the position of the mayor of the municipality.

“I am aware of the responsibility that this position brings, and as of today I am ready and committed to the work on realization of the program for improvement of living conditions and standard of living of our citizens. I believe that as a team we will open the doors of Herceg Novi for new ideas that we will bring back younger generations to implement these ideas and to make Herceg Novi a city of culture, health and fun, and to make it a recognisable touristic destination. Importance of today’s decision is that the city named it’s first female president of the municipality in it’s long history and let this be one of many historical achivements to come”, said the new president.

Parliament also apporved that Dragan Jankovic becomes the vice president of the municipality.
