The opposition will monitor elections in NK

The opposition parties in Niksic submitted to the Municipal Election Commission the lists of their candidates for representatives in election committees on Sunday, 15 minutes before midnight. The representatives are to observe the local elections scheduled for 12 March, DF’s representative Janko Milatovic told Pobjeda newspaper.

The opposition will have 67 chairperson seats in the 138 voting committees. Milatovic said the opposition would not do anything contrary to the law on election day.

“Our plan is an active boycott and monitoring the elections. We will act only in accordance with the law. We will prevent the North Korean scenario in Niksic, ie inserting invalid ballots, voting instead of persons who do not appear at polling stations etc. We will perform maximum control of the elections,” Milatovic said.

The opposition is boycotting the elections in Niksic. However, on 22 February the opposition representatives decided to participate in the draw of representatives in electoral committees. The committee chairpersons shall be elected in accordance with the number of seats in the local assembly won in the previous elections. Thus, DPS got 61 chairperson seats in the committees, SDP 14, LP 3, NOVA 17, PzP and DNP 13 each, SNP 10 and Positive Montenegro 7.
