As he said, media speculations and media racketeers presented the investor as a criminal who should be expelled, and the public did not get the real picture on the investment.
“The meeting with the investor was pleasant in every way. We decided to take a walk, to see what he was planning. We heard many things that were completely contrary to the media reports,” Mr Pajovic said appearing in the TV show “U Centar” broadcasted by the RTCG.
As he stressed, there would be no cut trees, eight-floor buildings and skyscrapers, as we could read in the media.
“There has been a rumour in Montenegro that the investor is a criminal. Those are fabrications of the media, media racketeers and blackmailers. Therefore, as politically responsible people, we went to get acquainted with what the investor wanted,” Mr Pajovic said.
Commenting on the media speculation, he said that there were media in Montenegro racketeering political leaders.
“Mr Slavko Perovic used to be treated in that way. Now, you have the example of the Positive Montenegro, which they called all sorts of names. It must be left in past,” Mr Pajovic stressed.
He said that he had not received a response from Mr Petros Stathis, but that the next meeting would be held during the next week.
“There is a committee dealing with the Annex, which we will support if it is changed in certain parts. I want to be an optimist, not like those who want to make some profit from every problem,” Mr Pajovic said.
We are not opposition to the State
Commenting on his party’s support for NATO membership of our country, Mr Pajovic said the Positive Montenegro had been opposition to the Government since its beginnings, but it had not been opposition to the State.
“The Positive Montenegro is undoubtedly for NATO integration – long-term peace, stability, security and safety, as well as fight against corruption and organised crime and rounding out the territorial integrity of Montenegro. NATO is the best security and policy framework for our future,” Mr Pajovic said.
He added that NATO represented the national interest, although the idea of membership came from the ruling coalition.
“Good ideas will be absolutely supported by the Positive Montenegro regardless the side they come from. We will point to bad things, but good things will be supported no matter who propose them. Wrong approach on those matters has been bringing failures to the opposition for over 25 years”, he said.
Asked about position of the PCG, if the Social Democratic Party (SDP), supported by part of the opposition, launched a non-confidence vote in the Government, due to the two minister positions, Mr Pajovic said he would not talk about “what would happen if…” issues.
“The priority is NATO and we have two months until then. When it comes to relations between the two coalition partners DPS-SDP, we have no intention to enter into their relations. It is not politically accountable deal with these matters in the media so much. I have never gone into media speculations in the style ‘what would happen if…’. If that happens, you will have a response from the PCG the same day. We are holding the keys of the political stability of Montenegro. Tomorrow, someone else could be in that position. We will not enter into any kind of unprincipled coalition”, Pajovic said.
We will not be a substitute for SDP
He also said that the PCG did not intend to be a substitute for the SDP in the Government because they were not established to replace someone, but to change Montenegro.
“No, that thesis has been put forward by people from the SDP. They can relax – we have no intention to do that, citizens have not given us a mandate to do something like that. However, they have been given a mandate to rule together with the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) and to maintain political stability. A long-term goal of the Positive Montenegro is to be the opposition to the Government, not to the State, to be a corrector of all wrong things. The substitution is not on the agenda. The PCG has not been established to replace someone, but to change something. After elections, I would like neither of them to be in the Government, but a new democratic Montenegro,” Mr Pajovic said.
He also commented on the 25 years of the opposition’s failures to win elections.
“What does it tell me? It tells me that the Government is not so bad, but that we have the wrong approach. The approach of destruction was not a good one. Those who still want to label can do that – we will not enter into that debate. The label that we get today will be given to someone else tomorrow and will not bring any changes. Changes can be slow, but slower things are of better quality than those achieved through a revolutionary approach,“ Mr Pajovic added.
Let’s not send an image of a bloody head from protests in Montenegro to the world
Pajovic undoubtedly believes that the protests of the Democratic front (DF) scheduled for September 27th are directed against NATO.
“This is also an attempt to return to something that DF used to represent. The protest is a legitimate way, but, in our opinion, a wrong one on the eve of receiving NATO invitation. Additionally, it is amazing that there is no opposition party in the Organising Committee. It shows that everything will be short-lived,” Mr Pajovic said.
He added that he was worried whether the protests would be peaceful.
“We are concerned that an image of a bloody head could be sent from Montenegro. I hope and believe in self-consciousness of the colleagues, that peace and stability represent the most important interest,” Mr Pajovic concluded.
