Payment system now operates until 8 p.m., weekend and holiday service starts 20 October

Centralna banka Crne Gore CBCG

As of today, the Central Bank of Montenegro (CBCG) has extended the operating hours of its payment system to 8 p.m. Payments made on working days up to 7:30 p.m. (for amounts up to €1,000) or up to 8 p.m. (for amounts over €1,000) will be processed the same day and immediately available to recipients.

This change is part of a broader effort to modernise the country’s payment infrastructure and align it with EU standards. The number of daily clearing cycles has also increased from three to six, ensuring faster fund transfers.

Starting 20 October 2025, the payment system will also operate on weekends and national holidays—adding 118 more working days annually. By July 2026, CBCG plans to introduce the TIPS Clone system, enabling real-time payments 24/7, year-round.
