In order for EU expansion policy to be successful, in addition to quality of reforms in the region, support of EU citizens and leaders is necessary, said Minister of EU Affairs Aleksandar Andrija Pejovic.
He took part in the conference Public Dialogue in Europe – Connecting EU with Citizens and Neighbours, that was held in Berlin in the organization of Konrad Adenauer and Association for Communication in the Public Sector in SEE.
Speaking before the participants, Pejovic pointed to the need for EU institutions and member states to put in additional efforts in order to ensure understanding and support of its citizens towards the idea and project of united Europe.
„In order to permanently structure the path of Western Balkans towards EU, we need to find a way to ensure the support of EU citizens. EU expansion policy is a continuous effort in protecting peace, prosperity and democracy in the whole of European continent”, Minister sada.
During his visit to Berlin, Pejovic had meetings with general director for EU affairs in Germany and deputy chief of the sector for EU affairs and international cooperation of Konrad Adenauer.
His interlocutors underlined the strong dedication Berlin has for Montenegro’s path to EU, and said that Germany would continue its support for reforms in Montenegro.
