“They achieved their goal, they got the Agency for the Prevention of Corruption. It is an indisputable fact that the case is politically motivated. The only question is who controls whom – Does Becic control the Special State Prosecutor’s Office, or the Office controls him and his colleagues from the party?” This was said by the former Agency director Jelena Perovic in her guest appearance in the prime-time news programme on E TV.
After seven and a half months, Perovic can leave her apartment. Her house arrest measure was lifted, and the news was announced by the media on Wednesday. Jelena Perovic’s legal representative, lawyer Nikola Martinovic, had access to the High Court’s document on the abolition of house arrest, but the decision, officially, did not reach either her or him, even though it was passed at the end of last month.
The previous seven and a half months, says Perovic, was enough time to make sure that, as she says, there were no accidental mistakes. She believes that whatever happened in connection with her case was no accident, and the very beginning looked like a hidden camera prank.
She believes that as the Agency director she displeased everyone who breaks the law and hides corrupt practices. She says that there are many such people, especially among members of the current government.
