Plan for electoral reforms prepared and submitted

The Democratic Montenegro and Civic Movement URA submitted the Plan for Electoral Reforms to all opposition MPS as well as to the non-governmental organizations (NGOs). The Pland aims to create opportunities for fair elections in Montenegro and it was presented by leaders of these two parties, Aleksa Bečić and Dritan Abazović.

The Plan outlines the need for finding sustainable solutions regarding the selection procedure for the members of the Court’s Council, new legal solutions referring to selection of the members of the RTCG’s Council, as well as the need for the overall electoral reform, including implementation of all recommendations given by the OSCE/ODIHR.

This document also envisages amendments to a range of media-related laws, aiming to align their legal framework with the EU and the international standards.

“The adoption of the Plan was encouraged by the fact that no political entity may be satisfied with the electoral race results in Montenegro, and that something must be done to alter the atmosphere of perpetual mudslinging,” the two parties noted.
