As of 1 March, the pneumococcus vaccine in neighbouring Serbia will become mandatory, and other countries in the region are considering similar moves. Although Montenegro is considering introducing this vaccine as mandatory, the Public Health Institute points out that necessary studies have to be done first, and also a public hearing.
Also, new Serbian Immunization Rulebook will for the first time introduce so-called recommended vaccines against human papillomavirus, hepatitis A, varicella and rotavirus.
These vaccines are not mandatory in Montenegro, but they are recommended for children and adults who are at increased risk due to some other illness.
