Podgorica and Ankara today became twin towns

Mayor of Podgorica, Ivan Vuković, and the acting Mayor of Ankara, Ali Gokšin, signed in Ankara today the twinning agreement.

“A very strong foundation of the political, economic and cultural cooperation between Montenegro and Turkey has been laid in the recent period. Great number of Turkish businessmen are present in Podgorica and the number of Turkish tourists is constantly going up. This agreement is the basis for further reinforcement of our relations”, said Vuković.

Podgorica and Ankara are connected thanks to so many common things. What’s even more important is the fact that economic and political relations between the two countries are constantly being improved.

“Montenegro and Turkey are allies within NATO Alliance. We must not neglect the contribution of Turkey when it comes to the support to our state in the process of European integration. At the political level, relations between the two states are exceptional. There’s a very stable basis for further improvement and, in that context, we see this agreement as a very important step in that direction”, said Vuković and invited his Turkish counterpart to visit Podgorica and open the boulevard that will be named after his city.

Acting Mayor of Ankara said that the agreement was another proof of the friendship that exists between the two states.

“Montenegro is one of the states that attracts most attention of Turkish investors. We firmly believe that we’ll keep cherishing stable bilateral relations in the future”, said Gokšin.

Podgorica and Ankara are the key link in the process of development of the states and the region and a very important subject in international relations.
