At today’s session of the Capital City Assembly, among other things, initiatives to shorten the mandate of the local parliament and the dismissal of Podgorica Mayor Olivera Injac will be discussed. Members of the Movement for Podgorica Nadja Ljiljanic and Jevrosima Pejovic announced two days ago that they would vote for shortening the mandate of the Podgorica parliament, but that they would not support the dismissal of the mayor. The Movement for Changes (PzP) announced last night that the PzP Podgorica board unanimously adopted the decision to support the initiative to shorten the mandate of the Capital City Assembly, and to vote against the dismissal of Injac. The beginning of the session is scheduled for 10 a.m.
If the councilors of the opposition and the Movement for Podgorica received support from their colleagues from the PzPc or URA, they would have the necessary majority to shorten the local parliament’s mandate, which would trigger early elections.
The city parliament has 58 councilors, so the initiative for dissolution needs to be supported by 30 of them.
