The organizing committee of the third Montenegro Pride decided the slogan of the parade should reflect the concrete struggle for freedom of LGBTQ people in all municipalities of Montenegro, in every street and in every place, according to Mina.
“At the Montenegro Pride which will be held in 17 days in the capital of Montenegro, we will walk for all LGBTQ people from Podgorica, Cetinje, Niksic, Bar, Andrijevica, Herceg Novi, Pljevlja, Budva, Kotor, Pluzine, Gusinja, Kolasin, Mojkovac, Rozaje, Berane, Tivat, Bijelo Polje, Petnjica, Ulcinj, Zabljak, Danilovgrad, Plav and Savnik, and we will demand freedom in all municipalities”, the chairman of the board of Queer, Danijel Kalezić, said in a statement.
According to him, the third Montenegro Pride requests the decentralization of the implementation of activities of the Strategy for improving the quality of life for LGBTQ people to all of Montenegro.
Kalezic said he expects from local authorities concrete actions and full commitment to the implementation of activities that will contribute to reducing the level of homophobia and transphobia so that the LGBTIQ community can start developing in all cities, without exception.
“Considering the fact that many of us live in long-standing relationships with our partners, and that our relashionships are not legally recognized, and that we are in this regard as well considered citizens of the second order, we require that by the end of 2016, legal solution are adopted to recognize us so that we too can enjoy the full rights of mutual life, like people of different sexes do “, added Kalezić.
He said he also expects the prosecution, courts and police to continue adequately investigating cases of violence and discrimination against the LGBT community in Montenegro.
“LGBT community in Montenegro, along with our friends and supporters, will proudly walk the streets of Podgorica on October 18 at the third Montenegro Pride, making yet another major step towards the final goal – full social equality”, concluded Kalezić.
