The new parliamentary majority in the town of Kotor still hasn’t reached the agreement even after a month and a half after the local elections.

The new municipal government should comprise the Democratic Montenegro (9 seats), the bloc ‘For the Future of Kotor’ (7 seats), Socialists of Montenegro (1 seat) and the civic URA movement (1 seat). However, talks over the formation of a new coalition government are still pending. Some media have reported that the reason behind it is URA’s refusal to accept the candidacy of Mr Vladimir Jokić as the mayor of that municipality.

In an interview with Pobjeda daily, the president of the Kotor URA, Ms Ljiljana Popović Moškov, says that the media speculation regarding Mr Jokić is not true.

She reveals that the problem in communication occurred because the Democrats still haven’t declared about the platform and principles that the civic URA movement submitted on 3 September.

Instead of giving the answer, on 28 September, the Democrats sent a written request asking URA to declare on their principles.

“Contrary to the Democrats, the bloc ‘For the Future of Kotor’ has responded to our principles. They modified some lines and the bodies of our party considered them and noted that there was nothing wrong with them,” Ms Popović Moskov said.

According to her, the civic URA movement first wants common principles to be aligned after which the formation of a government should happen. The proposal of the Democrats is to form the government based on the election result after which the harmonization of principles should follow.
