President Đukanović rejected all 29 pardon requests

In 2020, 29 prisoners requested the pardon and the President of Montenegro, Mr Milo Đukanović, rejected all of them, the document published on the website of the President suggests.

“In the period from 1 January 2020 to 31 December 2020, the President of Montenegro, Mr Milo Đukanović, was deciding on 29 pardon requests submitted by prisoners and made 29 decisions to reject the pardon requests. All pardon requests went through a procedure laid down by law,” the document says.

In 2019, 62 convicts required the pardon and President Đukanović pardoned only one of them found guilty of endangering the safety.

According to 2018 data, 127 prisoners required the pardon, which is more than twice as many requests from 2019. Of the total, only one convict was pardoned.
