The political commitment of the Montenegrin authorities to the strategic goal of European integration is the most important priority for the country, and staying firmly on the strategic EU orientation remains crucial for progress in the coming period, according to the European Commission Report on Montenegro’s progress.

The document, which the RTCG national broadcaster had access to, emphasizes that since its formation in October last year, the Government has operated in a generally stable political environment, with less polarization compared to previous years.

However, as stated, the country and its institutions are fragile and vulnerable to political crisis and potential institutional blockages.

This year’s Report also states that the electoral framework requires a comprehensive revision.

It is also emphasized that the Parliament worked regularly, mostly with consensus on key issues related to the EU.

It adds that consensus on key reforms related to EU accession has been extended to both ends of the political spectrum and EU-related legislation has been adopted unanimously in Parliament.

It is emphasized that Montenegro is actively involved in the implementation of the new Growth Plan for the Western Balkans.

The document states that Montenegro remains moderately ready for the application of the acquis of the EU and European standards in this area and that it has achieved good progress.
