A protest was organised earlier today in the village Donji Brceli against, as the organisers said, actions of the Serbian Orthodox Church (SPC) and the transfer of state assets. The protest was held in front of the Monument to the Fallen Fighters of Crmnica, honouring the warriors who died in 1943.
One of the organisers of the protest, Nenad Nikaljevic, said he was actually defending the country, not his land. “The Church of Serbia is an occupying church! We won’t give up on Montenegro and its European path! We’ve gathered to protest against political actions of a part of state administration, which has allowed our country to be destroyed from within! This is not a gathering against God. Christianity cannot be equated with ‘Serbdom’—it’s a deception! Another name for Montenegro is the eternal struggle for freedom,” Mr Nikaljevic stated.

As the organisers said, their goal is to get a clear and precise answer from state authorities – who signed away ownership of ‘Jovan Tomasevic’ elementary school, which was open until the 1979 earthquake, to a religious organisation?
In addition, the organizers want to point out to what they describe as the problematic transfer of fraternal cemeteries and communal property to the Serbian Orthodox Church.
