Public officials prohibited from govt vehicles during election campaign

The new Law on Financing Political Entities and Election Campaigns, passed at the end of December 2019, has some novelties that include, among other things, shortening the deadlines for reporting on budget spending and social assistance from 15 to seven days, limiting the payment of one-off financial assistance, as well as the prohibition of social security benefits from the budget reserve in the entire election year, warned the Agency for Prevention of Corruption, ASK.

According to Pobjeda daily, the ASK announced these amendments by posting them on their website and pointed out to the limitations envisaged by the above-mentioned Law.

They continued: “Public officials are prohibited from using government vehicles during the election campaign for purposes other than official business,“ the ASK also stated.

State bodies, local self-government bodies, public institutions and state funds can recruit temporary staff under exceptional circumstances, according to ASK, that is, they can conclude a fixed-term employment contract if a job scheme allows it.
