Radulovic: Lack of workers presents a problem

Žarko Radulović

Ministry of Interior Affairs has so far issued 10.770 permits for temporary residence and work in Montenegro, 8.106 of permits were issued in quota, while 2.664 were issued out of yearly quota, which is 1.796 more than last year. However, president of Montenegro Tourist Association Zarko Radulovic said for Pobjeda daily that there will be a lack of workers this tourist season, because the procedure for issuing permits is still far too complicated. Foreigners can wait up to 28 days to begin work.

“From the total quota of temporary permits for residence and work, one third is allocated to tourism, while the rest goes to other branches of commerce. Ministry of Interior Affairs is definitely our problem”, Radulovic said.

“Foreigners realized that they couldn’t get jobs in Montenegro due to complicated procedure, so they are not coming anymore, so we will have major issues this season”, he added.

He said they suggested that workers do a conditional run during those 28 days. If the permit is issued – the worker can continue, and if not, he can return to his country of origin.

“I believe this to be a good solution, and the state doesn’t lose”, Radulovic said.

He said the season has already begun and there are already problems with the workers.

“The capacities are already packed”, Radulovic said.
