Reduced service retirement for police jobs doubled in six years

arhiva DN

Thousands of occupations in the police, military and companies are entitled to the reduced service retirement, according to official gazettes since 2009, based on the data provided by the Pension and Disability Fund, Pobjeda writes.

The World Bank (WB) has recently suggested that, as part of the pension system reform, early retirement should be limited, a list of reduced years of service for some positions revised, a special fund for financing these pensions formed, etc.

At the recent presentation of the WB’s study on early retirement in Montenegro, it was stated that in 2016 there were 8,400 employees with reduced years of service – 2,500 of which in corporate and 5,800 in public sector.

Minister of labour Kemal Purisic then assessed that the revision of the list of beneficiaries would be a complicated and sensitive job. The director of the Pension and Disability Fund Dusan Perovic said that all proposed solutions are possible, but that sustainability principle is crucial.

Representatives of the World Bank have promised to help Montenegro in this reform, as they said, if and when it is initiated.
