Serbian Internet Media Association organised a protest in front of the Montenegrin Embassy in Belgrade on Saturday because, as said, the persecution of the Serbian people representatives in Montenegro, the local remaining free media and the Serbian Orthodox Church in the country.

The rally was supported by the Democratic Party of Serbia’s (DSS) candidate for the president of Serbia Aleksandar Popovic, the Dveri representatives including MP Ivan Kostic, former members of Dveri and now representatives of the National Freedom Movement Miroslav Parovic and Vladan Glisic as well as members of the Zavetnici (Pledgers) movement.

The rally was also attended by Nemanja Ristic who was arrested in mid-January in Serbia based on a warrant issued in Montenegro on suspicion that he participated in the attempted terrorist attack on election day, 16 October 2016 in Montenegro.

After the arrest, the Special Court in Belgrade released Ristic. However, the judge placed Ristic under house arrest, meaning that he is banned from leaving Belgrade and ordered to check in with the police once a week.

Montenegro required Ristic’s extradition on suspicion that he participated in planning terrorist acts before parliamentary elections last year. However, the Special Court in Belgrade rejected the extradition request as unfounded.

Since then, Ristic has been in Belgrade, but specific reasons why he is not arrested have not been officially revealed yet.
