Schools in towns with the highest coronavirus infection rate probably won’t reopen on 1 October as the virus spread faster than anticipated, Institute for Public Health states.
The Institute said that the final decision would be rendered on Monday, 28 September.
The epidemic situation is the most serious in Berane, Nikšić and Rožaje.
Director of the Association of Parents, Ms Kristina Mihailović, said that the Institute had announced such decision although it was not final.
“This only confirms our appeals that there’s not one model for all schools and all municipalities. They won’t accept our requests for individual decision-making process in schools. If we want to be partners, we must talk”, she said.
According to Ms Mihailović, it is necessary to change part of the teaching model.
“We call on Ministry of Education to consider our requests because the question is: how much will be the cost for mental and physical condition of families? Parents are not entitled to paid leave and that is a big problem”, Ms Mihailović said.
Assistant Minister of Education, Mrs Arijana Nikolić-Vučinić, said that they would be forced to change models if recommend by the Institute.
“I can’t tell you if the model will be changed. We brought decision in cooperation with parents and students”, she said.
