Coronavirus pandemic has shown that education system in Montenegro is every flexible and ready for further digitization and improvement, it was said at the online meeting organized by the Ministry of Education and UNICEF.
The meeting was opened by Minister of Education, Mr Damir Šehović, and residential UN coordinator in Montenegro, Ms Fiona McCluney.
“Some of the achievements of the education system over the past four years include: reformed education, creation of available and free education for everyone, better harmonization with the labor market, creation of the systemic model for awarding talents, increase in the capacities of pre-school facilities by over 2.000 places, introduction of free English language learning in pre-school facilities, bilingual lessons in a part of elementary schools, modernization of subject programs for elementary education, introduction of teaching assistants, introduction of mediators for the pupils of Roma and Egyptian population, affirmation of secondary and vocational schools, revival of dual education, development of 42 new modulated programs in vocational schools, Law on Academic Integrity, the greatest investment swing in education, increase in salaries of teachers and settlement of residential issues of education staff”, Minister reminded.
He added that we had opened digitization door which was one of the biggest challenges of the education system. Next year will see implementation of the project of digital classroom in all classes of the first grade of elementary school.
Another challenge Minister highlighted is the introduction of dual education for specific study programs at faculties as well as putting emphasis on the faculty practices.
Ms McCluney pointed out that education system had managed to ensure continuity of the education process for children during the crisis. She stressed that those achievements would have an impact on better preparedness for future.
Ms Mihaela Bauer, acting head of UNICEF representation office in Montenegro said that “the meeting has gathered international and bilateral partners to ensure high-quality and timely support for direct and long-term demands of the education system”.
